COMPUTER BASICS – AN INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS USING WINDOWS 10

If you find yourself still struggling with getting to know the basic in’s and out’s of computers, this course is a great starting point!

Over eight weeks you’ll spend a couple of hours each week with our patient tutor who will help you learn the basic skills to operate a computer. In a friendly and supportive environment you’ll be given plenty of time to practice and ask loads of questions— it’s a perfect opportunity to develop some skills and gain your confidence.

This course is for complete beginners or those with limited computer skills. It covers basic computer skills; basic word processing, an introduction to the Internet and using email.

It is an ideal course for anyone requiring basic skills for using computers in a workplace.

Please note:
In response to restrictions related to the COVID-19 Pandemic we have shortened in-class time to 2 hours for all Funded Courses.
Delivery of Course content may now include alternate ways of ensuring students receive access to a complete curriculum. For example, online delivery via Zoom video conferencing app and self-paced learning, as required.
Trainers will advise students accordingly in each Course.

For Computer based Courses—we are asking students to please bring their own laptop computers to classes where possible.

COMPUTER SKILLS FOR THE WORKPLACE USING Windows 10 – INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

Feeling overwhelmed by the info tech demands in your workplace? We can help!

The aim of this short course is to build on your existing skills by providing up to date hands on learning of current computer applications now required by employers in most workplaces. Computer skills are transferable so everything you learn here will also be useful for your small or home business needs, and even help you out with more complex personal projects!

This course will cover using Windows 10 interface; organising files and folders; working with Microsoft Office applications with a focus on Word; advanced internet search techniques; computer security; and more…

You must have basic computer literacy and skills to join this course.

Laptop computers are provided during class time, or you can bring your own working laptop with Windows 10.

EXCEL BASICS FOR THE WORKPLACE

An ability to work with spreadsheet applications is a highly desired skill in most workplaces.

This entry level course introduces learners to Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets for beginners with basic computer skills) providing an insight into the basic requirements of computer literacy required in a workplace environment, and provides examples of basic spreadsheet applications for professional, personal and/or study purposes.

Basic computer skills are required.

PUBLISHING DOCUMENTS MS PUBLISHER & MS WORD—INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

Two of the most indispensable programs used in workplaces today are Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Word.

This course provides an opportunity for those who have a basic working knowledge of these programs to expand their skills to the next level.

Publisher topics will include creating brochures, flyers, advertisements, posters, invitations, and more. Word topics will include mail merge, table of contents, track changes, compare documents, and more.

A basic working knowledge of these programs is required to join this class.

Laptop computers are provided during class time, or you can bring your own working laptop with Windows 10.
